What are the Paragliding Weight and Age Limits?

Paragliding is an exciting air sport that offers a sense of freedom, deeply connected with nature. However, while it appeals to a wide audience, certain health conditions, age, and weight factors may make it unsuitable for flying. In this article, we answer the most frequently asked questions such as who cannot paraglide, what the weight limit is, and what the age limit is.

Who Cannot Paraglide?

During tandem paragliding flights, safety is the top priority. Therefore, individuals with the following conditions are not recommended or are prohibited from participating in a flight:

🚫 Those with Health Problems:

  • Those with chronic conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or epilepsy

  • Those experiencing panic attacks, severe phobias, or flight anxiety

  • Those with spinal, knee, or hip problems

  • Pregnant individuals

  • Those who have undergone major surgery within the last 6 months

Since flying can pose serious risks for these individuals, it is strongly not recommended to fly without doctor’s approval.

🧒 Is there an Age Limit?

Age limits for tandem paragliding flights are determined based on the pilots’ safety priorities:

  • Minimum age: Generally 4-5 years old (with a guardian and if the child is not afraid)

  • Maximum age: There is no strict upper age limit as long as health conditions are suitable. However, doctor’s approval may be requested for individuals over 65 years old.

In summary:
✅ Healthy individuals over 5 years old can paraglide.
❗ For individuals over 65, the situation is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

⚖️ Is there a Weight Limit?

Yes, a weight limit is applied for both safety and equipment capacity:

  • Minimum weight: 25-30 kg

  • Maximum weight: 100-110 kg

The weight limit may vary depending on factors such as the height of the launch site, wind intensity, and the pilot’s weight. Flights for passengers over 110 kg are not considered suitable.

Conclusion: Your Safety is Our Priority

Paragliding is a unique experience, but like any sport, it has rules. Adhering to these rules is mandatory for the safety of both you and the pilot. If you have any questions or a specific health condition, please contact us before your flight.
